Zambia’s Copper Queens Ready to Take on Morocco in Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifier
Bruce Mwape, the coach of Zambia’s National Women’s Team, the Copper Queens, expressed confidence ahead of their upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics final round qualifier against Morocco. The first leg of the qualifier is set to take place on Friday, and Mwape is optimistic about his team’s chances.
Speaking at a pre-match press briefing held at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Mwape assured fans that the Copper Queens are well-prepared to secure a victory against Morocco. He emphasized that the team is fully focused and has a squad consisting of both local and professional players.
Acknowledging the strength of the Moroccan team, Mwape assured that his technical bench has made adequate preparations to face their opponents. He highlighted the team’s readiness to confront Morocco’s challenges head-on and promised a positive outcome for the Copper Queens.
When asked about Morocco’s coach, Jorge Vilda, who previously coached Spain’s national team, Mwape remained unfazed, emphasizing that Morocco and Spain are distinct entities. He indicated that they have analyzed Vilda’s tactics and are prepared to counter them effectively during the match.
Mwape also highlighted the return of midfielder Grace Chanda from Madrid CFF, which he sees as a significant boost to the team’s midfield. Addressing previous midfield shortcomings, Mwape assured fans of a different approach in the upcoming match, with the inclusion of Chanda and other players like Rhoda Chileshe.
Tickets for the home match are available for purchase, and the return leg is scheduled for Tuesday, 9 April 2024. The overall winner of the qualifier will secure their place at the Paris 2024 Olympics, scheduled for July.
