President Hichilema Reaffirms Commitment to Unity and Food Security at Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony

President Hakainde Hichilema, accompanied by government officials, graced the Nc’wala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni speaking people in a display of solidarity and respect for Zambia’s rich cultural heritage. 

This visit came following an invitation from His Royal Highness, Paramount Chief Mpezeni of Chipata, Eastern Province.

Addressing citizens gathered at the event, President Hichilema emphasized the paramount importance of unity and cultural preservation in the fabric of Zambian society. 

He reiterated his administration’s steadfast commitment to fostering national cohesion and ensuring that the country’s diverse traditions and customs are celebrated and upheld.

“As we execute our duties as President, we pledge to safeguard the unity of our beautiful nation. Our diversity is our strength, and we will not allow anything to divide us,” stated President Hichilema, underscoring the significance of embracing Zambia’s multicultural identity.

Amidst the backdrop of unprecedented droughts threatening food security across various regions, President Hichilema assured the nation of his government’s proactive measures to mitigate the impact of these challenges. 

He reaffirmed their unwavering dedication to ensuring that every Zambian has access to adequate food supplies, despite the harsh climatic conditions.

“We are fully aware of the hardships posed by the ongoing droughts, and we are actively working to address them. Our commitment to food security for all remains unwavering, and we will leave no stone unturned in our efforts,” reassured President Hichilema, highlighting the government’s proactive stance in tackling the crisis.

Furthermore, President Hichilema issued a call to action for environmental conservation, urging citizens to refrain from activities such as deforestation that exacerbate climate change and contribute to environmental degradation. 

He emphasized the interconnectedness between environmental preservation and long-term food security.

In closing, President Hichilema expressed gratitude to Paramount Chief Mpezeni for extending the invitation to the Nc’wala ceremony, acknowledging the significance of the occasion in fostering national unity and cultural pride. 

He concluded with prayers for the prosperity of Eastern Province and the entire nation, invoking blessings upon Zambia and its people.
