Zambia’s New High Commissioner to SADC Presents Credentials  

In a formal ceremony held at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Headquarters, Her Excellency Ms. Pamela M. Chisanga presented her Credentials to the SADC Executive Secretary, His Excellency Mr. Elias M. Magosi. 

According to a statement issued by Julia Malunga the First Secretary Press of Zambia High Commission In Gaborone, Botswana, the ceremony took place in the distinguished boardroom named after Zambia’s founding President, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, a key figure in the establishment of SADC.

Ms. Chisanga was officially accredited as the High Commissioner and Permanent Representative of Zambia to SADC, marking a significant moment in diplomatic relations. 

During the ceremony, Mr. Magosi commended Zambia for its critical role in fostering peace and security within the region, particularly under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema. President Hichilema currently serves as the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defense, and Security Cooperation.

Highlighting President Hichilema’s leadership and guidance, Mr. Magosi acknowledged the substantial contribution to the enhancement of peace and security in the region. 

He emphasized SADC’s commitment to ensuring that its programs have a positive impact on the well-being and livelihood of people in the region, expressing readiness to support Member States in achieving these goals.

Looking ahead, Mr. Magosi expressed anticipation in collaborating with High Commissioner Mr. Chisanga to facilitate the ratification of agreements and protocols under SADC. 

In response, High Commissioner Ms. Chisanga affirmed the mission’s commitment to fostering communication and engagement between the SADC Secretariat and Zambia.

Given Zambia’s current role as the Chair of the Organ, High Commissioner Ms. Chisanga pledged to play a proactive role in supporting the implementation of SADC initiatives. 

She emphasized the importance of influencing and mobilizing support for SADC initiatives and expressed her commitment to contributing to the establishment of a platform for appropriate interaction between the SADC Secretariat and Accredited Member States Representatives in Gaborone.

High Commissioner Ms. Chisanga concluded by pledging her full support for SADC initiatives, recognizing the commendable milestones achieved by the community.
