Retired General Shikapwasha’s Shooting Under Investigation 

The Zambia Police Service has launched an active investigation into a shooting incident involving Retired Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha, which took place at his residence in Ibex Hill on January 14th, 2024, between 17:00 and 18:00 hours. 

The retired officer was subsequently rushed to Maina Soko Military Hospital by his wife and children, where he is currently receiving medical attention.

Police detectives are diligently working to uncover the actual facts surrounding this unfortunate incident. The authorities are treating the matter with the utmost seriousness and have committed to conducting a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation. 

The primary objective is to establish the sequence of events leading up to the incident and determine the circumstances surrounding the discharge of the firearm.

While the police understand the public’s interest in obtaining accurate information, they emphasize the importance of allowing the investigation to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions. Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses, and the police aim to maintain open communication with the public.

Rae Hamoonga, the Police Public Relations Officer, urged the public to fully cooperate during the investigation. Detectives are actively gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing available information to ensure a comprehensive and accurate understanding of the situation.
