Manhunt Launched in Petauke After Aggravated Robbery Incident
Police in Petauke, Eastern Province, have initiated a manhunt for Rizwan Patel and eight other individuals following an alleged case of aggravated robbery. The pursuit comes in the aftermath of a reported incident where two male victims were violently attacked, robbed, and left with injuries.
The victims have been identified as Victor Kapungwe, aged 33, residing at House number 17 Mpulungu Street in Chambishi Town Centre, and Justine Chama, aged 39, from New Kasama in Lusaka. The incident occurred today, between 08:00 and 09:00 hours at Petauke Turn-off in Petauke District.
According to police reports, the victims were in transit to Lundazi from Lusaka using a Jonda Bus. Upon reaching Petauke Bus Stop along the Great East Road, as passengers were disembarking, Kapungwe and Chama were forcefully removed from the bus by Rizwan Patel and eight accomplices.
The suspects allegedly bundled them into a white Salon motor vehicle with the registration number ABH 7232, which was driven by Patel.
The victims were robbed of K5,600 in cash and an Itel Phone valued at K240. In addition to the financial loss, Kapungwe sustained a swollen left eye and a painful left leg, while Chama suffered painful left ribs and general body pains.
Police were alerted to the incident and swiftly dispatched to trace the victims, eventually locating them in Anusa compound in Petauke. Medical report forms were issued, and the injured duo was taken to Petauke District Hospital for treatment. They have since been discharged.
Rae Hamoonga, Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the launch of a manhunt for Rizwan Patel and the other suspects involved in the aggravated robbery.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward and assist in their apprehension.
