The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts, and the US Government, is spearheading a groundbreaking initiative. Ten provincial coaches are preparing to embark on a journey to the United States to participate in the esteemed 2024 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Anaheim, California, set to take place from January 10th-14th.

This unique opportunity for Zambian coaches is a result of FAZ’s deliberate effort to decentralize and promote football across all provinces. Led by FAZ Technical Director Lyson Zulu and Women Football Development Officer Annie Namukanga, the coaches will engage in the US Sports Visitors Program, immersing themselves in the world’s largest soccer convention.

The selected coaches, including Anthony Kapembwa, Chester Sanka, Dickson Kamona, Doreen Shimishi, Doris Mulenga, Harriet Banda, Aaron Kawangu, Job Mwanza, Mervis Phiri, Mwada Ziwa, and Chipangula Dube, will have the opportunity to enhance their technical skills and knowledge, contributing to the overall development of football in Zambia.

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga, present to see off the coaches, expressed gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing its significance in nurturing the talents of young female athletes. Kamanga highlighted the pivotal role these coaches play in shaping the Zambian football landscape.

Mr. Kamanga stated, “Through this program, we aim not only to enhance the technical prowess of our coaches but also to create an environment where every girl with a football dream feels supported, encouraged, and empowered to achieve her goals.”

The FAZ president acknowledged the crucial role of the US Government in fostering this initiative through the Sports Visitor Program, emphasizing their dedication to global sports development.

He lauded the support and partnership as a catalyst for positive change, underscoring the importance of inclusive sports programs and the advancement of women’s football on a global scale.

Addressing the provincial coaches, Mr. Kamanga said, “Your role is pivotal, and your dedication is commendable. Your willingness to learn, grow, and impart knowledge to our young talents reflects the essence of true leadership and mentorship. Together, let us seize this opportunity to inspire, nurture, and elevate our girls’ football to unprecedented heights.”
