Zambia to Host Global Summit on the Future of Artificial Intelligence and Automation

The 2023 Global Summit on the Future of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Automation, and Information Security in Africa is set to take place from September 13 to 15 in Livingstone, Zambia. The event, organized by Compu-Connect Education, a South African company, aims to gather leading experts from around the world to discuss the latest trends and developments in digital transformation.

Compu-Connect Education’s CEO, Sarah Luyele Nyamu, highlighted the significant potential of artificial intelligence and automation in addressing socioeconomic issues, enhancing productivity, and fostering innovation in Africa. Despite some encouraging advancements, widespread deployment of AI and automation in Africa still faces challenges such as limited infrastructure, unreliable internet connectivity, a digital skills gap, and insufficient funding for research and development.

In an interview, Ms. Nyamu emphasized that Africa has the opportunity to leverage AI technologies to boost economic growth and increase efficiency in various sectors including finance, agriculture, education, and healthcare. AI can improve decision-making, automate processes, and provide creative solutions.

However, realizing the full potential of artificial intelligence in Africa requires investments in infrastructure, the development of digital skills, and research and development. Ms. Nyamu highlighted that AI and automation have the power to stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, increase production, reduce expenses, and enhance competitiveness for nations across the continent.

The Global Summit in Livingstone will serve as a platform for experts to share their knowledge, insights, best practices, and case studies related to digital transformation. By convening leading minds in the field, the summit aims to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and explore strategies for harnessing the potential of AI and automation to drive Africa’s progress.

As Africa continues to embrace digital technologies, the summit will play a crucial role in shaping the future of AI and automation on the continent. It will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to address challenges, identify opportunities, and forge partnerships to unlock the transformative power of these technologies for the benefit of Africa’s socioeconomic development.

The Global Summit on the Future of Artificial Intelligence, Automation, and Information Security in Africa underscores Zambia’s commitment to embracing innovation and technology as drivers of progress. The event will contribute to positioning Zambia and Africa as key players in the global digital landscape.
