FNB Zambia Launches Inaugural FNB Kopala 10K Run in Kitwe

First National Bank (FNB) Zambia has announced the launch of the FNB Kopala 10K, a highly anticipated running event set to take place in Kitwe on July 29, 2023. The inaugural FNB Kopala 10K will feature an impressive Prize Purse of ZMW 100,000.

Bydon Longwe, CEO of FNB Zambia, expressed his excitement about the Prize Purse, which serves as an added incentive for runners to train hard and give their best on race day. The top ten finishers in the Open Men’s and Women’s categories will share the prize money, with the winners in each category taking home ZMW 10,000. Runners-up and third-place finishers will also receive generous cash prizes.

The FNB Kopala 10K aims to promote health and wellness among the people of Copperbelt and beyond. The event welcomes athletes, enthusiasts, and community members to participate in a thrilling race through the streets of Kitwe, creating memorable experiences and fostering a sense of unity.

Honourable Elvis Nkandu, Minister of Youth, Sport, and Arts, commended FNB Zambia for organizing the event and emphasized the power of sports in uniting people. The marathon celebrates perseverance, physical fitness, and sportsmanship, catering to both elite athletes and individuals from diverse backgrounds who seek an active and healthy lifestyle.

Minister Nkandu highlighted the New Dawn Government’s commitment to enhancing health and wellness through collaborative efforts with the Ministry of Health and initiatives like the Community Sport Program. The program promotes mass participation in sports for all and identifies talent at the grassroots level.

The Minister acknowledged the growing popularity of running, jogging, and walking in Zambia, as citizens embrace healthier lifestyles and participate in events focused on preventing non-communicable diseases.

FNB Zambia’s partnership with Trade Kings and Garden Court Hotel further demonstrates their dedication to fostering a spirit of unity and competition. The FNB Kopala 10K welcomes participants of all ages, including children as young as 9 years old, who will receive a finisher’s medal.

The FNB Kopala 10K is expected to become a premier sporting occasion, celebrating the spirit of running and active living. With generous cash prizes and diverse categories for participants, the event promises excitement and inclusivity.
