Zambia and Kenya Strengthen Bilateral Ties at Nordic-African Foreign Ministers Meeting
Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, SC, M.P, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Zambia, seized the opportunity of his presence at the 21st Nordic-African Foreign Ministers Meeting in Copenhagen to confer with His Excellency Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, E. G. H., Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya.
The meeting, held under the theme “Multilateralism and Increasing Trade and Investment,” served as a platform for reaffirming the enduring and robust bilateral relations between Zambia and Kenya.
Hon. Haimbe expressed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Zambian government and people for the tragic loss of lives in Kenya due to recent floods.
In turn, Hon. Mudavadi extended solidarity to Zambia as it grapples with persistent drought and its impacts on food security.
Both leaders underscored their commitment to advancing African Union reforms, particularly the optimization of the Pan African Parliament to align with the continent’s agenda effectively.
Additionally, they agreed to maintain cooperation at multilateral forums and to support each other’s candidatures for international organizations, fostering mutual benefits.
The Nordic-African Foreign Ministers Meeting, a long-standing platform fostering mutual understanding and partnership between Nordic and African nations, provided an ideal backdrop for this high-level engagement.
Discussions at this year’s gathering revolved around critical global issues, including partnerships in the African Century, global governance, international financial architecture, peace and security, and youth and economic partnerships.
