Proflight Announces Scheduled Flights to Zambia’s Kafue National Park for Peak Season
Get ready to explore the vast wilderness of Kafue National Park, Zambia’s largest, with ease! Proflight Zambia has announced its annual scheduled flights to the park, starting June 1st, 2024.
These flights aim to make Kafue National Park more accessible for both local and international travelers during the peak tourism season. From June 1st to October 31st, Proflight will connect Lusaka, Zambia’s capital, to Chunga, a central hub within the park, with three flights a week.
“This will allow holidaymakers and adventure seekers to experience the park’s natural beauty at its peak,” said Proflight Zambia Director of Flight Operations, Captain Josias Walubita.
Chunga’s location near the Department of National Parks and Wildlife headquarters makes it a convenient starting point for exploring both the northern and southern regions of the park. Travelers can easily transfer to vehicles or smaller charter flights for further exploration.
The success of this initiative is due to the collaboration between Proflight, the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, African Parks, and the Kafue Park Operators Association.
“Increased accessibility will benefit tourists, local communities, and all stakeholders in the area,” said Ian Pollard from African Parks.
Kafue National Park Manager Craig Reid sees this as a key step in the park’s restoration efforts: “We’re excited to work with Proflight and offer more options in the future. This schedule allows affordable and quick access for travelers planning their bush getaways.”
Proflight will operate 12-seat Caravan aircraft on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Flights depart Lusaka at 10:30 am, arriving in Chunga at 11:35 am. Return flights leave Chunga at 12:15 pm and arrive back in Lusaka by 1:20 pm, allowing connections to other destinations.
Bookings can be made through Proflight’s website, offices, or ticketing partners. Proflight also has plans to expand its Kafue National Park service with direct connections to Livingstone and other airstrips within the park, further enhancing accessibility for travelers.
