CEJ Leads Multistakeholder Dialogue to Advance Environmental and Land Rights in Serenje
The Centre for Environment Justice (CEJ) orchestrated a pivotal multistakeholder dialogue, underscoring a unified commitment to address pressing issues affecting the region, aiming to bolster environmental and land rights in Serenje district.
The gathering, which convened a diverse array of stakeholders including government agencies, community representatives, mining companies, Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), delved into critical matters such as land displacement, resettlement, and fair compensation.
The dialogue, echoing sentiments expressed by the District Commissioner during the event’s inauguration, underscored the urgency of promoting environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility.
The District Commissioner commended the initiative spearheaded by CEJ under the Resilient Initiatives for Sustainable Environment (RISE) project, emphasizing its pivotal role in championing environmental justice and community empowerment.
He reiterated the administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding environmental integrity while prioritizing the well-being of Serenje residents.
