Namibian Vice President Advocates for Reinforced SADC Peacekeeping Mission in DRC
Namibian Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has hailed the recent extraordinary organ TROIKA plus SADC TROIKA Summit as a significant success.
Speaking at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) on Sunday before departing for Namibia, Vice President Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the summit, stating that her expectations were met.
Emphasizing the importance of regional peace and security, Vice President Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted the commitment of member states towards promoting stability in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
She specifically cited Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as countries where SADC’s leadership aims to foster peace.
In reference to the ongoing conflict in the DRC, Vice President Nandi-Ndaitwah underscored the necessity of bolstering the SADC peacekeeping mission in the region.
She noted that SADC deployed peacekeepers in the DRC last year to enhance stability and emphasized the need for further strengthening these efforts.
While addressing the diplomatic dimension of resolving conflicts, the Namibian Vice President affirmed that SADC leadership is actively engaged in finding lasting solutions to the situation in the DRC.
Vice President Nandi-Ndaitwah was among the distinguished Heads of State and government who participated in the recently concluded extraordinary organ TROIKA plus SADC TROIKA summit held in Lusaka, Zambia.
The departure of the Namibian Vice President’s plane from KKIA marked the conclusion of her participation in the summit, symbolizing Namibia’s ongoing commitment to regional peace and stability.
The statements made by Vice President Nandi-Ndaitwah underscore the collective determination of SADC member states to address conflicts within the region and promote sustainable peace initiatives.
