Govt Invests in Tourism Infrastructure to Boost Northern Circuit
The Zambian government, through the Workers Compensation Fund, has launched the construction of the Chinsali Budget Hotel in Chinsali District, Muchinga Province, as part of its commitment to enhancing tourism in the Northern circuit.
Minister of Labour and Social Security, Brenda Tambatamba, unveiled the project during her visit to the district, emphasizing the government’s dedication to local development and job creation.
Speaking during a courtesy call on Senior Chief Nkula of the Bemba people of Chinsali, Tambatamba highlighted the significance of the hotel project in aligning with the government’s agenda to boost the tourism sector in the Northern circuit.
“We can only thank you for welcoming us in your area and begin to demonstrate to our people that we promised deliverables of projects that will contribute to the economic development of this area,” said Tambatamba.
In response, Senior Chief Nkula expressed gratitude to the government for its continued efforts in advancing development in his Chiefdom.
He also appealed to the government to consider erecting a memorial monument for the first Republican President, Kenneth Kaunda, at his birthplace in Lubwa Mission.
Chief Nkula stressed the importance of showcasing Kaunda’s historical significance to attract tourists to the region.
Observing that the current state of Kaunda’s birthplace does not adequately represent its historical significance, Chief Nkula emphasized the need for an official monument to honor the legacy of the late President.
The construction of the Chinsali Budget Hotel, scheduled for completion by November this year, signifies a significant step towards enhancing tourism infrastructure in the Northern circuit.
