Zambia Participates in 62nd Session of Commission for Social Protection at UN Headquarters
The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services of Zambia is actively engaged in the ongoing 62nd Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA. Leading the Zambian delegation is Ms. Angela Kawandami, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
Ms. Kawandami is expected to deliver a statement outlining Zambia’s current status and initiatives regarding social protection during the session.
The session, which commenced yesterday, will continue until February 14th, 2024, operating under the theme, “Fostering Social Development and Social Justice through Social Policies to Accelerate Progress on the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to Achieve the Overarching Goal of Poverty Eradication.”
The Commission for Social Development has been an integral part of the United Nations since its inception, providing valuable advice to the Economic and Social Council and governments worldwide on various social policy issues and the social perspective of development.
Zambia’s active participation in this international forum underscores its commitment to addressing social welfare challenges and advancing social justice within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
