LCC Clamps 30 Trucks for Illegal Parking
The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has impounded and clamped 30 trucks found illegally parked in unauthorised areas. The operation, conducted in collaboration with the state police and the council’s Engineering Department, took place this morning along Chandwe Musonda and Kafue Roads from 06:00hrs to 11:30hrs.
The impounded trucks not only contributed to traffic congestion but also caused damage to the road infrastructure.
The LCC has taken a firm stance on addressing this issue and will continue impounding and clamping trucks until the situation is rectified. To release a clamped truck, the owner must pay a penalty fee of K1,500.
The Lusaka City Council emphasizes that parking trucks in undesignated areas is a violation of Statutory Instrument No. 20 of 2018 and is punishable by law.
The local authority is unwavering in its commitment to instill order and discipline in truck parking within the city, and routine inspections will persist to ensure compliance.
Nyambe Bulumba, Assistant Public Relations Manager, issued a statement, urging truck drivers and owners to adhere to parking regulations. The LCC seeks the cooperation of the public in reporting any instances of trucks illegally parked to the council or the police for swift intervention.
