FQM Launches Keep Kalumbila Clean Campaign to Safeguard Community Health
Focused on localizing efforts within the broader “Keep Zambia Clean, Green, and Healthy” Campaign, First Quantum Minerals (FQM) Trident Limited has initiated the “Keep Kalumbila Clean Campaign.”
The specific aim is to address hygiene and disease prevention in the Mine Township, contributing to the broader public health initiative.
The program was officially launched on Saturday by Shadrick Munjunga, the Chairperson of the Kalumbila Town Council. Munjunga emphasized the crucial role of cleanliness as a preventive measure against diseases such as cholera.
Given the transformation of Kalumbila Mine Township into a construction hub, attracting a growing population seeking opportunities, Munjunga urged residents to adopt a culture of cleanliness to mitigate the risk of disease spread.
He stressed the importance of residents taking extra precautions to protect both the community and the mine workforce, ensuring uninterrupted production.
The influx of individuals into the area creates an environment that demands heightened awareness and proactive measures to maintain public health.
Michael Kabungo, the Manager of Kalumbila Town Development Corporation, echoed Munjunga’s sentiments during the launch event.
Mr. Kabungo highlighted Kalumbila as one of the greenest and cleanest towns in Africa and called upon residents to play an active role in preserving the pristine environment.
Upholding cleanliness, Kabungo emphasized, is not just a civic duty but a collective responsibility to ensure the well-being of the entire community.
The Keep Kalumbila Clean Campaign reflects FQM Trident Limited’s commitment to community health and environmental sustainability, aligning with broader national efforts to create clean and healthy living spaces.
The initiative encourages a proactive approach towards disease prevention and underscores the importance of individual and community responsibility in maintaining a safe and hygienic living environment.
