Namibia Strongly Condemns Escalating Violence in Israel-Palestine Conflict

The Government of Namibia has expressed grave concern and strong condemnation for the increasing violence between Israel and Palestine in the Gaza Strip. The conflict has resulted in the tragic loss of lives among both Palestinian and Israeli communities.

In a statement issued by Penda A. Naanda, Executive Director at Media Institute of Namibia (MIRCO), Namibia has called upon Israel to immediately halt its military actions and avoid any provocative acts that may further exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people. 

The government has stressed the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law.

Furthermore, Namibia has reiterated its support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a long-lasting peace settlement, which would ultimately lead to a two-state solution. 

This proposed solution includes the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous Palestinian State, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 Israeli borders.

The Namibian government has shown unwavering solidarity with the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people, recognizing their fundamental right to self-determination. 

It supports the implementation of relevant United Nations resolutions and agreements that promote enduring peace in the Middle East. The goal is for Israel and Palestine to coexist as two independent states, ensuring sustainable peace and security in the region.

Namibia has urged the international community to intervene by advocating for an immediate cessation of hostilities, protecting civilians, and continuing to support the Palestinian people as they strive for peace. The nation’s stance is rooted in the pursuit of a peaceful coexistence between the State of Israel and the State of Palestine, as mandated by international law and agreements.
