Zambian Embassy and Korean Travel Association Explore Tourism Collaboration

The Zambian Embassy in Seoul has initiated talks with the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA) to boost tourism collaboration between the two countries.

Mrs Wrayrose Hamweene, Chargé d’Affaires of the Zambian Embassy, met with KATA Chairman Mr Lee Jin-Seok to discuss promoting Zambia as a key travel destination for Korean tourists.

She highlighted Zambia’s iconic attractions, including Victoria Falls, South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi, and Kafue National Parks, and emphasised the country’s rich cultural heritage, wildlife experiences, and reputation for peace and hospitality.

Mrs Hamweene proposed joint initiatives such as Zambia-focused tour packages, familiarisation trips for Korean operators and media, destination marketing campaigns, and participation in the Zambia Tourism Expo (ZATEX) scheduled for June 2026.

Mr Lee welcomed the engagement and noted that Zambia remains underrepresented in the Korean travel market.

He suggested increased promotion through television, social media influencers, and direct marketing by Zambian tour operators in Korea. A joint webinar was also proposed as a starting point for cooperation.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen tourism ties and enhance cultural and economic exchange between Zambia and the Republic of Korea.
