ZPPA Publishes Market Price Index for First Quarter of 2026

The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) has published the Market Price Index for the first quarter of 2026, in line with its mandate under the Public Procurement Act No. 8 of 2020, as amended by the Public Procurement (Amendment) Act No. 17 of 2023.

In a statement issued by Ms Lucy Lumbe, Acting Principal Officer for Public Relations at ZPPA, the Authority said the quarterly Market Price Index is intended to guide Controlling Officers, Chief Executive Officers and procuring entities in making informed and reasonable pricing decisions during procurement processes.

ZPPA has reminded all procuring entities to submit reports on standardised and commonly procured stock items, non-stock items, capital expenditure and other project-related items. These submissions will be used to inform future Market Price Index publications.

The Authority further advised that revised templates for Inventory and Stock Management, the Market Price Index, and Price Reasonableness Analysis Reports are now in effect. The templates can be accessed on the Authority’s website.

ZPPA noted that the Market Price Index for the first quarter of 2026 will remain valid until the next quarterly index is issued.

The Authority added that the Market Price Index is available on its official website and through the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) platform. Detailed information contained in the circular on the first quarter Market Price Index can also be accessed online.
