Proflight’s Latest Freighter Jet Touches Down at KKIA
Proflight Zambia, the renowned Zambian airline, achieved a significant milestone this week as its latest freighter jet, the Bombardier CRJ100 Parcel Freighter, made a triumphant arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA). This event underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its cargo transport capabilities and overall fleet.
With the addition of the CRJ100 Parcel Freighter, Proflight Zambia is well-poised to meet the surging demand for efficient cargo services, not just within Zambia but also across borders. This expansion promises to strengthen the airline’s foothold in the cargo transportation sector, enabling it to cater to a wider clientele.
Proflight Zambia’s fleet expansion doesn’t stop here. The airline is eagerly anticipating the arrival of another passenger jet, the Bombardier CRJ200, which is scheduled for delivery before mid-September. This acquisition is facilitated by MOVE, a ferry company that has played an instrumental role in Proflight Zambia’s recent fleet enhancements.
Captain Josias Walubita, the Director of Flight Operations at Proflight Zambia, expressed his excitement about these developments, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome these new aircraft to our fleet. The CRJ100 Parcel Freighter is a valuable addition, especially in the current market environment. It will allow us to provide even more reliable and efficient cargo transportation services.”
Captain Walubita further emphasized the suitability of the Bombardier CRJ jets for their operations, noting the airline’s preparedness with a proficient team of pilots, engineers, and crew members to operate these jets effectively in both domestic and international markets.
The inaugural flight of the CRJ100 Parcel Freighter took off from Calgary on September 1, 2023, at 16:00 local time. Its journey took it from Calgary to Goose Bay on the East Coast of Canada, across the North Atlantic to Keflavik, Iceland, followed by a route to Ljubljana, Slovenia. The aircraft then continued its voyage to Jedda, Saudi Arabia, and Nairobi, Kenya, before finally touching down in Lusaka, Zambia, at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 18:05 on Saturday.
Currently registered as C-GXHQ in Canada, the aircraft will soon undergo the necessary de-registration and registration processes in Zambia and be locally registered as 9J-PZC.
With the successful delivery of the CRJ100 Parcel Freighter, the delivery crew, under the command of Captain Frederik Host-Madsen, assisted by Captain Johan Oredsson, is poised to ferry the second CRJ200 jet, expected to arrive before mid-September.
