Zambia Army, ZAMCOM Sign MoU to Train Personnel in Media and Communication

The Zambia Army has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Zambia Institute of Mass Communications Educational Trust (ZAMCOM) to provide officers and soldiers with training in media and communication studies.

The signing ceremony, held at Army Headquarters, marks a significant step towards strengthening communication skills and professional capacity within the defence force.

Speaking at the event, Brigadier General Kennedy Sialoombe described the partnership as a formal collaboration aimed at contributing to national development and capacity building.

He said the MoU is designed to equip Zambia Army personnel with skills in journalism and public relations, enabling men and women in uniform to apply these competencies both during and after their military service.

ZAMCOM Executive Director, Kennedy Mwila, said the agreement is expected to increase enrolment of Zambia Army personnel at the institution.

Mr Mwila noted that the partnership will enhance capacity development for Army media and communication practitioners across various areas of the profession.

He further revealed that the MoU provides for discounted tuition fees, with Zambia Army personnel, their dependants, and teachers from Army-aided schools eligible for a 20 per cent tuition reduction, while best graduating pupils from Army-aided schools will receive a 50 per cent discount.
