New Alliance Strengthens Africa’s Position in Global Digital Economy

Africa Data Centres has entered a strategic partnership with Wingu Africa, expanding the continent’s largest network of interconnected carrier-neutral data centres into three of East Africa’s most critical digital hubs—Djibouti, Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Wingu Africa, known for its Tier III-standard facilities and strong presence in East Africa, will now link its regional data centre footprint with Africa Data Centres’ operations across South, West and Central Africa. The agreement effectively creates a seamless, unified digital platform spanning some of the continent’s fastest-growing technology markets.

Executives from both companies described the collaboration as a milestone for Africa’s digital economy. Demos Kyriacou, Deputy CEO, COO and Co-Founder of Wingu Africa, said the move elevates the company from a regional operator to a continental player.

“By connecting our infrastructure with Africa Data Centres’ extensive network, we enable enterprises to operate across borders with confidence. This is about making Africa’s digital economy easier to access, more predictable, and globally competitive,” he said.

For Africa Data Centres, the partnership offers immediate expansion into Djibouti, a key submarine cable entry point for global connectivity, as well as Ethiopia’s rapidly advancing digital services sector and Tanzania’s vibrant cloud and mobile technology market.

“Africa’s digital transformation depends on collaboration and scale,” said Africa Data Centres CEO, Adil El Youssefi. “Together, we are building a truly interconnected platform that supports innovation, investment and inclusive growth.”

The agreement also aligns with the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy (2020–2030), designed to accelerate cloud adoption, fintech expansion and secure national digital ecosystems across the continent.

Industry analysts say the collaboration strengthens Africa’s position in the global data economy, reducing barriers for enterprises and cloud providers seeking to scale securely and efficiently across multiple regions.
