Zambia Positions Itself for Inclusive Growth at IMF–World Bank Meetings

Zambia is prioritising deeper engagement with development partners, investors, and the global community at the 2025 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings, Finance and National Planning Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane has said.

Dr Musokotwane highlighted that the country’s participation aims to secure opportunities with the greatest potential to maintain Zambia on a path of stability, economic transformation, and inclusive growth.

Speaking during a liaison meeting for the Zambian delegation, the Minister emphasised that this approach reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance social sector interventions and promote investments in mining, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure through Public–Private Partnerships (PPPs).

“The IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings are a bastion of opportunity,” Dr Musokotwane said. “They provide a vital platform for knowledge exchange, investment engagement, and the development of strong international partnerships that can advance Zambia’s growth agenda.”

The Zambian delegation includes Secretary to the Treasury Mr Felix Nkulukusa, Bank of Zambia Governor Dr Denny Kalyalya, Zambia Revenue Authority Commissioner General Mr Dingani Banda, and Permanent Secretary for Budget and Economic Affairs Ms Mwaka Mukubesa.

On arrival in Washington, D.C., Dr Musokotwane was received by Zambia’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr Chibamba Kanyama, alongside other embassy officials.

Dr Kanyama emphasised that Zambia’s participation reaffirms the country’s commitment to strengthening international engagement and sustaining global interest in its agenda for development, transformation, and citizen well-being.

The 2025 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings officially opened on Monday, 13 October 2025, bringing together global leaders, policymakers, and investors to discuss solutions for sustainable development and financial stability.
