Nigeria to Host Moonshot 2025, Driving Africa’s Next Wave of Startup Investment
Hundreds of investors, capital providers, and entrepreneurs are set to converge in Lagos this October for Moonshot by TechCabal 2025, Africa’s flagship innovation conference, aimed at accelerating deal flow and historic funding opportunities for the continent’s most promising startups.
The event will bring together founders, investors, venture capitalists, angels, and limited partners (LPs) to explore cross-border partnerships, exit strategies, and investment in emerging sectors including artificial intelligence, payments infrastructure, digital assets, fintech, and creative industries.
After a global funding slowdown in 2023–2024, African tech is rebounding, with startup funding reaching US$1.42 billion across 243 deals in the first half of 2025—a 78% increase year-on-year. Participants at Moonshot will focus on strengthening deal flow, creating robust exit opportunities, and boosting investor confidence to sustain the ecosystem’s growth.
Key speakers include Maxime Bayen, Operating Partner at FundCatalyst; Lexi Novitske, General Partner at Norrsken 22; Tito Cookey-Gam, Principal at Partech Africa; and Eloho Omame, Partner at TLcom Capital. A delegation of more than 100 European investors, led by Digital for Development (D4D), will also participate, fostering collaborations and investment partnerships across Africa and Europe.
Speaking on the conference, Tomiwa Aladekomo, CEO of Big Cabal Media, said: “African tech is gaining real momentum. Moonshot provides a platform for founders and investors to convert potential into tangible growth, exploring funding, exit opportunities, and emerging sectors like AI, payments, and digital assets.”
Other highlights include a focus on Next-Gen Payment Rails, digital commerce, mobile money adoption, cross-border interoperability, and the role of cryptocurrencies in enabling financial inclusion. Wole Ayodele, CEO of Fincra, emphasised that APIs are the backbone of Africa’s digital commerce, facilitating real-time settlements and seamless transactions.
Nigeria’s Minister of Trade, Jumoke Oduwole, will address how progressive trade policies are supporting startups, expanding digital services exports, and positioning Nigeria as a hub for digital trade.
With over 120 speakers, nine signature content tracks, and more than 4,000 expected participants, Moonshot 2025 builds on last year’s success, which attracted over 3,500 attendees from 15 countries. The event is proudly supported by platinum sponsors including Fincra, Flutterwave, Luno, Interswitch, Opay, Roqqu, Busha, Raenest, and Cardtonic.
