Govt Donates K1.3M Agricultural Equipment to Boost Food Security in Isoka
The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS) has handed over agricultural equipment and livestock worth K1.3 million to Food Security Pack (FSP) beneficiaries in Isoka District, in a bid to promote rural mechanisation and improve crop yields.
Officiating at the ceremony, Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Doreen Mwamba, said the initiative aligns with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of enhancing national food security through increased agricultural productivity.
“The promotion of food security requires collective effort from all stakeholders. Government remains committed to addressing nutritional needs through interventions such as the provision of agricultural equipment,” she said.
Accompanied by Isoka Member of Parliament, Marjorie Nakaponda, the Minister commended beneficiaries for their improved loan repayment rates under the FSP, which have funded additional community-driven projects aimed at breaking cycles of poverty.
Ms Nakaponda hailed the programme’s positive impact, urging recipients to safeguard the equipment and focus on increasing household incomes.
Isoka District Commissioner, Jairo Simbeya, said the machiner, including hammer mills and maize shellers, would save residents from travelling long distances to access such tools.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Government for the empowerment, pledging continued repayments to ensure more communities benefit, ultimately driving up yields and strengthening food and nutritional security.
