ZRL Pursues Strategic Partnerships at Africa Rail Conference to Revamp Zambia’s Rail Sector

Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) says the ongoing Africa Rail Conference in Johannesburg presents a valuable opportunity for Zambia to engage with key industry players and establish strategic partnerships to strengthen the country’s railway system.

Speaking from the conference, ZRL Managing Director Eng. Cuthbert Malindi noted that the Zambian delegation has actively participated in high-level discussions and networking sessions with global stakeholders.

He emphasized that a well-functioning rail network is vital to reducing logistics costs, boosting trade, and unlocking Zambia’s economic potential.

“The conference offers a good platform for industry stakeholders to shape the future of railway across the continent. ZRL is taking this opportunity to present investment prospects in infrastructure, rolling stock, and signaling systems as outlined in our strategic business plan,” said Eng. Malindi.

Hosted in Johannesburg, the Africa Rail Conference has attracted railway operators, investors, policymakers, and technology providers from across Africa and beyond, all gathered to explore transformative solutions for the sector.

Malindi further highlighted the need for increased investment to enhance the efficiency of Zambia’s railway sector and said ZRL’s participation will enable knowledge exchange that is crucial for operational and infrastructure advancements.
