Proflight Zambia Partners with Kasama Coffee to Brew a New Era of Responsible Tourism

Proflight Zambia has launched a powerful partnership with Kasama Coffee, bringing a bold, local brew to the skies while championing responsible tourism and supporting rural economic development.

The 100% Zambian-grown coffee, cultivated at Kansato Farms in Kasama, is now available on select Proflight routes and will soon feature across all flights.

The collaboration marks a strategic move in aligning aviation with sustainability. “More than ever, travellers want to know that their journey has a positive impact,” said Josias Walubita, Director of Flight Operations at Proflight Zambia. “Kasama Coffee isn’t just any coffee – it’s a story of sustainability, community impact and Zambian innovation.”

Proflight is helping open up Zambia’s Northern Province, including Kasama and the spectacular Waterfall Circuit, to global travellers through its Lusaka hub, connecting to Johannesburg and Cape Town. The airline’s partnership with Kasama Coffee ensures that tourism benefits flow directly to rural communities.

Founded by Luke Powell, Kasama Coffee stands as a beacon of ethical farming and job creation. At Kansato Farms, the coffee is grown using regenerative techniques and minimal machinery, prioritising employment over automation. Over 50 full-time workers and hundreds of seasonal harvesters are supported through these efforts.

From handmade packaging to artisanal roasting, every aspect of Kasama Coffee embodies sustainability. “We’re not just growing coffee – we’re creating livelihoods and protecting the environment,” said Powell.

The coffee’s cloth bags are sewn locally, a project that started with a single tailor supporting orphans and has now evolved into thriving small businesses. Kansato Farms uses compost-based soil enrichment and integrates native tree species, preserving biodiversity and reducing reliance on chemicals.

For Proflight Zambia, the initiative reflects a broader vision. “This is the future of aviation and tourism,” Walubita added. “We’re proud to serve a product that reflects Zambia’s spirit, and to be part of a model that other airlines can follow.”

This collaboration offers passengers more than a great cup of coffee—it’s a taste of Zambia’s heart and heritage at 35,000 feet.
