Zambia Opens 2025 Land-Linked Conference with Bold Vision for African Integration

President Hakainde Hichilema officially opened the 2025 Land-Linked Zambia Conference at CIELA Resort in Chongwe with a rallying call for deeper African integration through improved trade, infrastructure, and collaboration.

Addressing delegates from across the continent, President Hichilema emphasized that Africa thrives when it connects, collaborates, and trades as one.

He urged African nations to dismantle barriers hampering intra-African trade, including outdated border systems and poor transport links, calling instead for bold investments in road and rail infrastructure and efficient one-stop border posts.

In a bid to unlock economic potential, the President also challenged the financial sector to reduce the high cost of capital that continues to impede business growth and innovation.

A key highlight of the event was the signing of two historic agreements between Zambia and Angola—one for the development of the Lobito Corridor and another focused on bilateral aviation cooperation. These accords are expected to boost regional connectivity, trade flow, and investment between the two countries and beyond.

“As your Chief Marketing Officer, we used this platform to market Zambia as a stable investment destination,” President Hichilema said, reiterating the government’s mission to double the economy, create more jobs, and increase treasury revenue to fund better healthcare, education, and opportunity for all citizens.
