President Hichilema Celebrates Success of Free Education Policy

President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed immense satisfaction with the success of the free education policy, marked by outstanding results in the 2024 Grade 9 and 12 national examinations.

The President lauded the policy’s transformative impact on Zambia’s education system, emphasizing its role in providing equal opportunities for all children, regardless of their economic background.

The 2024 Grade 12 results stood out, with 115,532 out of 169,464 candidates earning school certificates. “This is nothing short of exceptional!” President Hichilema declared.

He highlighted that the results disproved doubts about the quality of education under the free policy, stating, “Numbers don’t lie, and these results speak volumes.”

President Hichilema praised the Examinations Council of Zambia for its vigilance in curbing exam leakages, ensuring the integrity of the education system.

He also commended the tireless efforts of teachers and examination officials whose dedication contributed to this achievement.

For learners who did not pass, the President encouraged resilience, highlighting the government’s alternative programs, including skills training initiatives funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The free education policy, introduced in January 2022, has led to a significant surge in enrollment across the country, marking a turning point in Zambia’s education landscape.

President Hichilema reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing education quality, ensuring every child has access to learning opportunities.
