SMART Zambia Partners with CBU to Propel Digital Transformation

SMART Zambia has taken a groundbreaking step in advancing technology by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Copperbelt University (CBU).

The partnership is set to transform CBU into a digital hub, focusing on localized software and systems development to enhance government services and digital literacy.

SMART Zambia’s Acting National Coordinator, Mr. Mulomba Hameja, highlighted the initiative’s goals, emphasizing the establishment of a Digital Transformation Center (DTC) at CBU as a major milestone.

He explained that the Government Service Bus (GSB) will ensure easier access to services and announced the deployment of digital ambassadors to enhance utilization.

CBU’s ICT Director for Business and Innovation, Mr. Pastor Hampande, lauded the collaboration, noting that CBU’s internal software development department is reducing dependency on international solutions.

The MOU, covering systems like council-in-a-box and fleet management, bridges the gap between industry and academia, preparing students for real-world challenges.
