Zambia Honored for Exemplary Leadership in African Aviation

Zambia’s Civil Aviation Authority (ZCAA) has soared to new heights, earning the Certificate of Appreciation from the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) for its remarkable leadership and extensive intra-African air connectivity during the 2022–2024 Triennium.

This prestigious accolade, recognizing Zambia as the African state with the most intra-African routes, underscores the country’s critical role in enhancing trade, tourism, and regional integration. The award was presented during a gala dinner organized by the African Union Commission and AFCAC.

Capt. Derrick Fredrick Luembe, Director General of ZCAA, received the award on behalf of Hon. Museba Frank Tayali, Zambia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics.

Expressing gratitude, Capt. Luembe emphasized the nation’s steadfast dedication to the Yamoussoukro Decision (YD) and the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM).

“Our commitment to aviation safety, security, and connectivity has positioned Zambia as a trailblazer in implementing Africa’s aviation policies,” said Capt. Luembe.

He credited Minister Tayali’s visionary leadership for propelling Zambia back onto the international stage.

During the triennium, Zambia granted numerous air traffic rights, including 3rd, 4th, and 5th freedoms of the air, and facilitated code-share marketing agreements to enhance regional air travel.
