Agriculture: Key Pillar in Zambia’s Economic Masterplan, Says Expert
Economic expert Kelvin Chisanga has underscored the critical role of the agriculture sector in Zambia’s economic masterplan, calling on citizens to reconnect with the land.
He highlights agriculture as a unique resource capable of shielding the nation from financial and economic shocks.
“Agriculture directly influences many sectors and is a powerful primary resource base,” Chisanga said. “With robust stakeholder support and effective policy management, we can enhance production and consumption capacities, achieving economic stability.”
Chisanga pointed out the significant regional demand for agricultural goods, driven by climate change and escalating food prices, causing market distortions.
He emphasized the sector’s potential to meet this demand and build a resilient economy.
“The agriculture sector has a huge appetite within the regional market,” he added. “By focusing on agriculture, we can navigate economic challenges and drive sustainable growth.”
