EAZ Forecasts Promising Future for Zambia under IMF Programme
The Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) has projected a positive outlook for Zambia under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Programme, despite recognising short-term challenges.
EAZ President Oswald Mungule highlighted the importance of monitoring the IMF’s support in alleviating Zambia’s debt burden to ensure long-term sustainability.
During the 2024 Economic Summit, scheduled for 25th and 26th July at Ciela Resort in Chongwe District, Lusaka, the IMF is set to deliver a comprehensive statement on Zambia’s debt resolution.
Dr Mungule expects the summit to also provide an economic outlook for Africa.
The summit, themed “Pioneering Zambia’s Sustainable Economic Transformation through Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Financing Mechanisms after Debt Restructuring,” will focus on analysing strategies to foster economic resilience and recovery.
It will serve as a platform for collaboration between the government, industry players, and other stakeholders, demonstrating a collective commitment to overcoming economic challenges.
Dr Mungule emphasised the summit’s role in addressing sustainable development, climate change adaptation, and innovative financing mechanisms.
“Join us to shape Zambia’s future and contribute to its sustainable economic transformation,” he said.
This is in statement issued by EAZ Acting Chief Executive Officer Tendai Posiana.
