Emirates Unveils Exclusive ‘Icons of Fine Wine’ Collection Onboard
In celebration of International Wine Day on 25th May, Emirates has announced an exceptional treat for wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs. This summer, the airline is elevating its already renowned in-flight experience by introducing a collection of rare and acclaimed wines from around the world, available onboard simultaneously.
First Class passengers on routes from Dubai to the UK and the Americas will be delighted with the complimentary offering of Dom Pérignon Rosé 2008. This exclusive champagne, known for its exceptional quality and limited availability, will be featured for just three months.
The 2008 vintage is characterised by a bold assemblage of Pinot Noir grapes, offering a full-bodied and silky palate with notes of raspberries, wild strawberries, iris, and violet, culminating in a persistent finish of peonies and white pepper.
In addition, First Class passengers on the same routes throughout June and July can enjoy the Louis Latour Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Les Demoiselles 2014. This exquisite white wine from Burgundy boasts aromas of nectarine and quince, with toasted hazelnut and mineral notes, perfectly balanced with a harmonious palate of fruits, spices, and minerality.
From mid-June to October, Emirates’ First Class customers travelling to Australasia will be treated to Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay 2019. Known for its complexity and elegance, this Chardonnay showcases grapefruit and peach aromas, complemented by hints of meringue and roasted hazelnut, with a powerful yet beguiling palate and a mineral-laced finish.
Red wine aficionados are also in for a treat with the inclusion of M. Chapoutier Ermitage Rouge Le Pavillon 2012, available on routes to mainland Europe from June to mid-December. This iconic Rhône Valley wine features dark raspberries and cassis, with liquorice overtones, a full-bodied palate interwoven with blackcurrant and cooking spice flavours, and a vibrant minerality.
Additionally, the Vega Sicilia Unico 2006 Ribera del Duero from Spain will be available on European routes in June and July. This robust and elegant wine offers a bouquet of black cherry, eucalyptus, leather, and tobacco, with a full-bodied palate of velvety tannins, spice, and balsamic notes.
Travellers between Milan and JFK, New York, can savour Italy’s celebrated Ornellaia, Bolgheri Tuscany 2012, known for its vibrant and generous character with cherry, spice, grilled herb, and leather aromas.
Meanwhile, those flying to Italian destinations from May 2024 to January 2025 will enjoy the Brunello di Montalcino 2010 Ceretalto, Casanova Di Neri Toscana, with its ripe blackberry, candied cherry, and polished tannins.
On routes to North America, First Class customers will have the opportunity to sample the renowned Opus One Napa Valley 2012 from the end of May throughout June. This wine, a collaboration between the Rothschild and Mondavi families, offers fresh dark fruit aromas, forest-floor notes, and a palate of cassis wrapped in satiny tannins.
Emirates’ dedication to the wine experience extends across all classes. Business Class passengers can enjoy mature Bordeaux wines from the spectacular 2009 vintage, including les Tourelles de Longueville, Sociando-Mallet, Château Lagrange, and Larrivet Haut-Brion. The selection also includes wines from Burgundy, Spanish wines like the Crognolo 2021, and Australian wines like Terre à Terre Cabernet-Shiraz.
Premium Economy passengers will receive a selection of sparkling vintage wine, premium red, and premium white wines, such as Chablis 2022 from Albert Bichot and Woodcutters Shiraz 2021 from Torbreck. Economy Class passengers are offered high-quality options including Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet 2021 and various biodynamic wines from M. Chapoutier and others.
