Gov’t, Dot Com Zambia Advance Digital Transformation Agenda
Government has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating Zambia’s digital transformation agenda through stronger collaboration with local technology firms and strategic regional partnerships.
This follows a courtesy call by Dot Com Zambia PLC Chief Executive Officer, Mawano Kambeu, on Minister of Technology and Science, Hon. Felix Chipota Mutati, MP, where discussions centred on the role of indigenous technology companies in driving innovation, digital infrastructure, and economic growth.
During the meeting, Minister Mutati stressed the importance of building credible and sustainable technology enterprises capable of attracting investment and participating in capital markets.
He commended Dot Com Zambia for becoming one of the pioneering local technology firms to list on the Lusaka Securities Exchange, describing the achievement as a positive signal for Zambia’s growing ICT sector and investor confidence in local innovation.
The Minister said Government’s digital transformation agenda is focused on creating an enabling environment that supports innovation, promotes investment, and strengthens collaboration between the public and private sectors.
He further revealed that Zambia is engaging countries such as Mauritius and Ghana on technology partnerships, digital investment hubs, and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at accelerating regional digital growth.
Mr Mutati also highlighted the importance of integrated digital systems, particularly the development of a “single source of truth” through digital identity management systems.
According to the Minister, integrated digital identity systems have the potential to reduce fraud, improve service delivery, strengthen social protection programmes, and enhance operational efficiency across sectors.
Drawing lessons from Ghana’s digital identity framework, he said digital integration had improved Know Your Customer (KYC) systems and transparency while reducing inefficiencies.
The discussions also explored opportunities for local technology companies to develop solutions linked to Government digital infrastructure such as the Government Service Bus and integrated systems connected to the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA).
Meanwhile, Mr Kambeu reaffirmed Dot Com Zambia’s commitment to supporting Zambia’s digital transformation through innovation-driven solutions tailored for both the public and private sectors.
He noted that the company’s growth and recent milestones reflected rising confidence in Zambia’s technology sector and demonstrated that local firms can scale competitively within the region.
Mr Kambeu further stated that collaboration between Government and the private sector remains essential in building sustainable digital ecosystems that improve service delivery, enhance transparency, and unlock economic opportunities for citizens.
