Zambia and Vietnam Deepen Agricultural Cooperation
Former Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture Dr Cao Duc Phat and his delegation have concluded a high-level visit to Zambia, highlighting strong potential for cooperation in agricultural development between the two countries.
During discussions with the Government of the Republic of Zambia, Dr Phat commended the country’s clear policy direction and strong political commitment to transforming the agricultural sector.
He noted that Zambia has an ambitious programme aimed at boosting productivity and strengthening value chains.
Dr Phat further emphasised agriculture’s growing role in driving exports, increasing farmers’ incomes, and supporting the development of industry and services.
He also pointed to success stories in value chains such as coffee and tilapia, praising Zambian farmers for their determination to improve livelihoods.
Minister of Agriculture Reuben Mtolo said the visit followed reciprocal exchange programmes between Zambia and Vietnam, which have helped deepen cooperation and identify key areas for partnership.
He added that both countries are working towards an Economic Partnership Agreement expected to enhance technical cooperation, knowledge sharing, and practical agricultural expertise.
The engagement was attended by officials from several government institutions, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Finance, Zambia Development Agency, and the World Bank Zambia.
