Win a House and Cash with MTN MoMo’s ‘Wina Nyumba’ Promotion

MTN Mobile Money Zambia has launched a nationwide promotion dubbed “Wina Nyumba na MoMo”, aimed at rewarding customers while promoting financial inclusion and improving access to home ownership.

The campaign gives Zambians the chance to win life-changing prizes through everyday use of mobile money. One lucky customer will win a brand-new house, while five others will each receive K100,000 over five months. In addition, 1,000 customers every month will receive cash prizes of up to K2,000.

To take part, customers only need to deposit money into their MoMo accounts and continue using services such as sending money, paying bills, buying airtime and bundles, and making payments. Winners will be contacted via 115 or 215 during the promotion period.

Speaking during the launch, MTN MoMo Chief Executive Officer Komba Malukutila said the initiative goes beyond a typical promotion, describing it as a platform for empowerment and economic participation.

“Today is not just about launching a promotion. It is about hope, possibility, and the power of everyday effort,” Malukutila said.

He noted that each transaction reflects real-life experiences, from parents supporting their children’s education to farmers investing in inputs and small business owners growing their enterprises.

The campaign also aims to address one of Zambia’s key challenges, access to decent housing. Through the promotion, selected winners will receive support towards owning and completing homes, helping to improve long-term stability for families, Malukutila said.

Government has welcomed the initiative, describing it as a meaningful contribution to national development. Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga said mobile money has evolved into a powerful tool for economic empowerment.

“For a long time, people saw MoMo as just a platform for transactions. But today, it is clear that it is transforming lives,” Mulenga said.

He added that the initiative will help reduce Zambia’s housing deficit, estimated at over three million units, while improving livelihoods across the country.

The Minister also called on other private sector players to follow similar efforts and contribute to economic development.

The campaign builds on previous MoMo initiatives, which saw customers win vehicles that improved mobility and created new income opportunities.

As part of the programme, Micmar Investments Limited has partnered with MTN to support the housing component. Chief Executive Officer Michael Kroupnik said the company is committed to ensuring that winners receive complete and comfortable homes.

“At Micmar, we are not just building structures. We are building homes, livelihoods, and futures,” Kroupnik said.

Micmar has committed K100,000 towards helping winners complete and personalise their homes, ensuring they are ready for families to live in, he said.

The partnership reflects collaboration between the private sector and government to address housing challenges linked to rapid urbanisation, rising construction costs, and limited access to affordable housing.

MTN MoMo said the promotion is part of its broader vision to build a financial ecosystem that delivers real value, supports economic growth, and improves the quality of life for ordinary Zambians.
