CEEC Disburses K198.2 Million to Empower Entrepreneurship in Southern Province
The Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) has disbursed K198.2 million to support 7,157 entrepreneurs across Southern Province since 2021, reinforcing efforts to drive rural industrialisation and economic diversification.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the Provincial Administration, CEEC Director General, Muwe Mungule, said the funding has been channelled into sectors such as agriculture, aquaculture, and hospitality, with a focus on high-value projects aligned with the province’s economic strengths.
Projects supported include goat production and processing, beef abattoir operations, milk processing, fish production and processing, maize milling, and honey processing across several districts.
The initiatives will operate through a cooperative model, empowering local cooperatives to lead implementation and ensuring that wealth creation directly benefits communities.
Southern Province Permanent Secretary, Namani Monze, welcomed the investments and urged both beneficiaries and the Commission to ensure that the projects are converted into sustainable businesses, generate employment, and contribute to meaningful socioeconomic development.
The CEEC programme forms part of broader government efforts to stimulate rural industrial growth, enhance livelihoods, and promote equitable economic opportunities across Zambia.
