Proflight Zambia Goes Cashless to Boost Efficiency, Security and Passenger Convenience
As Zambia embraces a modern, digitally enabled economy, Proflight Zambia has taken a significant step in transforming its operations with the rollout of cashless payments, enhancing efficiency, security, and passenger convenience.
Introduced in November 2025, the airline’s digital payment initiative allows passengers to pay for flights and services using card payments, mobile money platforms, bank deposits, and other approved digital options.
The move is part of a broader strategy to support Zambia’s transition towards a cashless economy while improving service delivery in the aviation sector.
Captain Josias Walubita, Proflight Zambia’s Director of Flight Operations, emphasised the benefits: “Going cashless strengthens the airline’s operations, enhances service excellence, and maintains a secure operating environment. At the same time, our customers enjoy greater convenience when paying for flights and services.”
The initiative aligns with the Bank of Zambia’s efforts to promote cashless transactions and mirrors international best practices in aviation. By reducing reliance on cash, the airline minimises fraud risks, streamlines administrative processes, and offers passengers a faster, more seamless experience.
“The move to digital payments complements our wider strategy centred on innovation, service excellence, and governance,” Captain Walubita added, noting that it sits alongside network expansion and adherence to globally recognised aviation standards.
Proflight Zambia operates both domestic and regional routes, connecting key Zambian cities and southern African destinations. Its cashless transition demonstrates how aviation can act as a catalyst for economic modernisation, linking people, markets, and ideas through efficient, secure, and future-ready systems.
