Vertiv, Hut 8 Set New Standard for AI Data Centre Construction

Vertiv™ (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, has unveiled a significant step forward in high-density data centre deployment. Moving beyond traditional static modelling, the company is now leveraging a Digital Twin platform to accelerate deployment of its Vertiv™ OneCore integrated modular solutions, enabling AI operators to scale infrastructure with unmatched speed and precision.

As demand for AI training and inference grows, conventional construction methods are increasingly unable to keep pace. Project timelines are threatened by physical, logistical, and resource constraints. Vertiv’s solution replaces sequential construction workflows with a digitally orchestrated, factory-integrated approach, reducing reliance on scarce talent and enhancing repeatability and performance.

Central to this evolution is Vertiv’s shift from static Building Information Modelling (BIM) to a dynamic digital environment built on SimReady assets with Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) export capabilities. This full-stack digital infrastructure converges mechanical, electrical, and IT systems into a single coherent system, cutting complexity and accelerating time-to-token.

“Traditional construction is reaching its limits,” said Giordano Albertazzi, Chief Executive Officer at Vertiv. “Vertiv OneCore delivers a unitary, fully coherent system where digital design and physical assets are inseparable. This goes beyond prefabrication—it is true convergence, unlocking compounding gains in speed, efficiency, and performance.”

Key benefits of Vertiv OneCore include:

  • Factory-Integrated Execution: Consolidates power, cooling, heat rejection, overhead aisle infrastructure, and services into a single, repeatable modular system.
  • Speed to Revenue: Reduces on-site commissioning and labour intensity, cutting deployment time by up to 50% compared with traditional builds.
  • Space and Density Optimisation: Requires up to 30% less space, enabling higher compute density and maximised revenue per square foot.
  • Cost Savings: Delivers up to 25% reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO) by shifting labour off-site and reducing rework.
  • Future-Ready Infrastructure: Scalable blocks support densities of up to 600 kW per rack, allowing flexibility for multiple compute generations.

Hut 8 Corp. (Nasdaq: HUT), an energy-first infrastructure platform, has partnered with Vertiv to integrate OneCore into selected data centre projects. By combining Hut 8’s energy-centric approach with Vertiv’s converged systems, the collaboration enables standardised, repeatable, and scalable AI infrastructure solutions designed to accelerate schedules while maintaining engineering rigour.

“Asher Genoot, CEO at Hut 8, explained, “We see AI data centre infrastructure as an integrated industrial system anchored in power, rather than a collection of bespoke real estate projects. Partnering with Vertiv allows us to standardise design, maintain delivery timelines, and improve execution confidence for large-scale AI deployments.”

Vertiv OneCore integrates power, thermal, IT, controls, and services into a single platform that supports evolving AI workloads without being tied to a single compute ecosystem. Modular elements and system-level digital models enable operators to standardise architecture while flexing configurations for future compute generations.
