Chinese Military Medical Team Receives Friendship Medal in Zambia
The Zambian Ministry of Defence held a ceremony on 12 February 2026 to award the “International Friendship and Cooperation Medal” to the 28th Chinese military medical experts team serving in Zambia.
The event was attended by Mr Maambo Haamaundu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence; Brigadier General Levi Muchemwa, Commandant of Mania Soko Medical Centre; Wang Sheng, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Zambia; and Senior Colonel Bai Yunfeng, Defence Attaché.
Mr Haamaundu conveyed warm greetings from President Hakainde Hichilema, Zambia’s Commander-in-Chief, praising the Chinese military doctors for their significant contributions to the country’s military medical and health services.
He affirmed Zambia’s commitment to further strengthen cooperation with China and to deepen friendly relations between the two nations.
Wang Sheng highlighted the dedication and compassion of the medical team, commending their high ethical standards and exceptional skills.
He expressed hope that collaboration and exchanges between the Zambian and Chinese militaries would continue to grow, bringing benefits to both countries and their citizens.
Wang Zhiyi, team leader of the 28th Chinese military medical experts team, said the medal symbolises recognition of the team’s work and reflects the strong friendship and ongoing cooperation between the two militaries.
