Zambia Receives New Honorary Consul of Bangladesh
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, S.C., M.P., has received Letters of Commission from Mr. Ershad Hossain Ripon Shikder, the newly appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Bangladesh to the Republic of Zambia.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday at Charter House in Lusaka, marking a renewed commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Hon. Haimbe emphasised that President Hakainde Hichilema has opened Zambia for business as part of efforts to attract investment and promote mutually beneficial international partnerships.
The Minister highlighted Bangladesh’s well-established clothing and textile industry as a key area from which Zambia could draw valuable lessons, particularly as the country seeks to revitalise Mulungushi Textiles.
He also identified agriculture as another sector with strong potential for collaboration to advance shared economic interests.
In response, Mr. Ershad Hossain Ripon Shikder expressed Bangladesh’s readiness to partner with Zambia across several sectors, including health, to support development and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
