Zambia Strengthens Ties with Angola at New Year Diplomatic Ceremony

Zambia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Angola, His Excellency Reverend Dr Elias Munshya, has attended the New Year Greetings Ceremony of the Diplomatic Corps hosted by Angolan President João Lourenço in Luanda.

The ceremony was held at the Protocol Complex of the Presidency of the Republic and brought together members of the diplomatic community accredited to Angola. 

During the event, President Lourenço reaffirmed Angola’s commitment to peace, regional stability, multilateralism and sustainable development across Africa, while reflecting on the country’s 50 years of independence and its progress in institutional consolidation.

In his capacity as Acting President of the African Union, President Lourenço emphasised the importance of financing critical infrastructure to enhance regional interconnectivity in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063. 

He also reiterated Angola’s commitment to promoting African-led solutions to peace and security challenges, with particular focus on the Great Lakes region.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Ambassador Munshya held discussions with senior Angolan officials, reaffirming Zambia’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation on regional infrastructure projects, including the Lobito Corridor.

The Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Luanda said the ceremony provided an important platform for deepening diplomatic engagement and reinforcing the strong partnership between Zambia and Angola.
