Schools Set for Smooth Term One After K760 Million Grant Release
The Government has released K760 million to public and grant-aided schools nationwide to support the implementation of the Free Education Policy for Term One of 2026.
The Ministry of Education said the funds, which are being disbursed with effect from today, will ensure the smooth running of schools and address reports suggesting delays in the release of school grants.
According to a statement issued by the Principal Public Relations Officer, Mr Clive Kalunga, the release of the funds underscores the Government’s commitment to strengthening education financing and guaranteeing uninterrupted learning under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.
The Ministry further assured stakeholders that strict oversight measures have been put in place to ensure the efficient, transparent and accountable utilisation of the funds. This will include monitoring disbursement processes and tracking expenditure to improve learning conditions across schools.
The grants will be used to support classrooms, teaching and learning materials, and to promote equitable access to quality education, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its dedication to the Free Education Policy, stating that timely funding remains critical to sustaining learning outcomes and empowering every child to reach their full potential.
