Zambia’s ECZ Benchmarks Kenya’s Electoral Systems

Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya, His Excellency Mr Alfred Musemuna, has received a delegation from the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) during a courtesy call at the Zambia High Commission in Nairobi.

The delegation, led by ECZ Commissioner Ambassador Ndiyoi M. Mutiti, is in Kenya on a benchmarking working visit aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and sharing best practices in electoral management.

High Commissioner Musemuna commended the ECZ for its continued commitment to strengthening Zambia’s electoral processes and promoting democratic governance.

He encouraged the Commission to sustain such exchange visits, noting that they enhance technical capacity, institutional learning and bilateral relations between Zambia and Kenya.

He further observed that engagements with sister electoral management bodies provide valuable insights that support continuous improvement, transparency and the credibility of electoral systems.

The ECZ delegation is holding discussions with Kenyan electoral institutions to learn from the country’s electoral processes and experiences. The outcomes of the visit are expected to inform Zambia’s ongoing and future electoral reforms, particularly in light of proposed constitutional amendments.
