Yango Rewards Zambian Football Fans with AFCON Bus Tour and Watch Party in Lusaka
Yango Zambia, part of the global tech company Yango Group, treated Zambian football fans to a memorable AFCON-themed bus tour and watch party experience in Lusaka, rewarding winners of its recent social media competition with a day of entertainment, music and live football.
The activation brought together Yango superapp users for a city-wide double-decker bus tour across key parts of Lusaka, featuring a live DJ, interactive games and surprise guest appearances. The experience culminated in an exclusive watch party where fans gathered to watch the Zambia versus Morocco AFCON match in a vibrant, high-energy setting.
A major highlight of the day was the participation of award-winning Zambian music star Yo Maps, who joined fans on the bus tour. Winners were given a rare opportunity to interact with the artist one-on-one, ask questions about his career, and gain insights into his musical journey before proceeding to the watch party venue.
Speaking on the initiative, Yango Zambia Country Head Kabanda Chewe said the activation was designed to deepen the company’s connection with its users.
“At Yango, we believe meaningful engagement goes beyond simply moving people from one point to another. From food, package and cargo delivery to navigator services, Yango’s superapp serves thousands of Zambians every day. This activation was about creating memorable moments for our users, from the excitement of the bus tour to the opportunity to engage directly with Yo Maps and learn from his journey. By combining technology, mobility and entertainment, we are celebrating local talent, rewarding loyalty and bringing people together around the things they love,” Chewe said.
One of the competition winners, Mulenga Chinondo Chileshe, popularly known as Coach Mule, described the experience as both exciting and inspiring.
“This was an incredible experience. Riding on the bus, vibing with other fans and interacting personally with Yo Maps was something I never expected. As a tennis coach, I always encourage discipline and consistency, and hearing him speak about his challenges and growth in music was truly motivating. It made the day feel special, and it’s great to see Yango creating opportunities like this for ordinary users,” he said.
The activation forms part of Yango Zambia’s broader strategy to deliver meaningful, locally relevant experiences for its growing user base. Through initiatives such as this, Yango continues to strengthen its position as a leading technology platform in Zambia, connecting communities and creating memorable shared experiences.
