Zambia Strengthens Regional Ties in Aviation Training
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Zambia hosted a delegation from Uganda’s East African Civil Aviation Academy (EACAA) this week as part of a regional benchmarking programme aimed at enhancing aviation training and institutional cooperation.
During the courtesy call on CAA Director General, Captain Derrick Luembe, he praised the delegation’s visit and reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to advancing collaboration in the region’s aviation training sector.
Captain Luembe noted that Zambia is finalising the integration of the Zambia Aviation and Safety Training Institute (ZASTI) with the CAA to streamline training and regulatory functions.
ZASTI Acting Principal, Mr William Ngoma, described the visit as a key platform for knowledge exchange and partnership building. EACAA Head of Delegation, Mr Womekha Samuel, highlighted the value of insights gained from ZASTI’s training and operational model.
The visit concluded with a joint commitment by CAA, ZASTI, and EACAA to strengthen cooperation in pilot training, aircraft maintenance, and digital learning, through ongoing exchange programmes and continued engagement.
The EACAA delegation, led by Mr Samuel and including Ms Frances Atima, Mr Frederick Wabwire, Capt Frank Mulindwa, Mr Mugisha Abel, and Mr Twesigye Godwin, was on a two-day benchmarking programme in Lusaka from 28 to 29 October 2025.
