Tolaram and Toyota Tsusho Sign MoU to Explore Strategic Partnership in Africa

Tolaram Pte. Ltd. and Toyota Tsusho Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore a strategic partnership focused on Africa’s consumer and infrastructure sectors. The agreement provides a framework for potential collaboration, leveraging each company’s strengths to support sustainable economic growth and address social challenges across the continent.

Tolaram, with nearly five decades of operations in Africa, has significant investments in consumer goods manufacturing and distribution, as well as large-scale infrastructure projects such as Lekki Port and the Lagos Free Zone in Nigeria. Toyota Tsusho, present in 54 African countries under its guiding principle “WITH AFRICA FOR AFRICA”, brings expertise in mobility, healthcare, consumer products, and infrastructure development.

The MoU will explore joint opportunities in consumer products and infrastructure development, and aims to create a platform serving as a gateway for global companies entering Africa. Both companies intend to combine their complementary capabilities to drive long-term, responsible business development.

Tolaram, a family-owned enterprise headquartered in Singapore, has grown from a single retail shop in 1948 into a diversified global company operating across Africa, Asia, and Europe. Its African operations include partnerships with Indofood, Arla, Kellanova, Colgate-Palmolive, and Diageo, alongside ownership of integrated infrastructure projects.

Toyota Tsusho Group, operating in over 130 countries with approximately 23,000 employees in Africa, is committed to building a sustainable future under the vision “Passing on a better Earth to the children of the future”. Its African operations span mobility, green infrastructure, healthcare, and consumer products, contributing to local economic development across all 54 nations on the continent.
