The Minister of Tourism, Honourable Rodney Sikumba, today held a productive meeting with Her Excellency Ambassador Mayada Essam, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Zambia, during a courtesy call at the Ministry of Tourism in Lusaka.

The discussions centred on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in tourism development, cultural heritage promotion, and capacity building for tourism professionals.

Hon. Sikumba expressed Zambia’s appreciation to the Government of Egypt for extending an invitation to His Excellency Mr Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, to attend the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on 1 November 2025 in Cairo.

“Zambia regards the Grand Egyptian Museum as a monumental contribution to world heritage and a symbol of our shared human civilisation. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with Egypt in heritage conservation, tourism promotion, and people-to-people exchanges,” said Hon. Sikumba.

Ambassador Essam reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to working closely with Zambia in advancing mutual interests within the tourism and cultural sectors.

“Egypt values its warm relations with Zambia and stands ready to collaborate in areas such as training, destination management, and cultural exchange. Together, we can showcase Africa’s rich heritage and tourism excellence to the world,” said H.E. Ambassador Mayada Essam.
