Vox Launches Cybersecurity Division in Partnership with Global Leader Sophos
South African internet and communications provider Vox has announced the launch of a dedicated cybersecurity division in partnership with global cybersecurity leader, Sophos. The move marks Vox’s expansion from a trusted ISP into a full-service digital guardian, offering companies an integrated portfolio of connectivity, communication, and protection solutions.
The new division provides comprehensive protection through firewalls, endpoint security, Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Extended Detection and Response (XDR), and Phish Threat solutions, all integrated into Vox’s managed security offering. AI-powered defence includes proactive threat hunting, deep learning analysis, and automated response capabilities.
A unified Sophos Central dashboard consolidates alerts and data across third-party tools, while automated phishing simulations and targeted training help turn employees into the first line of defence. Vox also offers accessible pricing, including fibre and firewall bundles tailored to South African businesses.
The launch responds to a growing cyber threat landscape in South Africa. According to the BDO Global Risk Landscape Report 2025 and Allianz Risk Barometer, companies faced an average of 2,114 cyberattacks per week in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 14%. The Sophos State of Ransomware in South Africa 2025 report highlighted that median ransomware demands rose from R2.8 million in 2024 to R18 million in 2025, with median payments nearly tripling to R8.3 million.
Audrey Vadival, Head of Division: Security and Value-added Services at Vox, said: “Our partnership with Sophos allows us to deliver world-class security solutions leveraging next-generation protection capabilities like AI within a locally managed services model, making high-end protection both accessible and affordable.”
The partnership forms part of Vox’s broader strategy to evolve from a connectivity and communications provider into a holistic managed service and security partner. The company’s approach focuses on securing connections, protecting data, and safeguarding customers.
Pieter Nel, Sales Director SADC at Sophos South Africa, added: “Our partnership with Vox brings the full strength of Sophos’ MDR, XDR and AI-driven technologies directly into a locally managed service model, making advanced cyber defence accessible to businesses of all sizes.”
Vox, a Sophos Gold Partner, will offer five integrated Sophos products designed to prevent, detect, and respond to modern threats. These include the Sophos XGS Series firewall, Sophos Intercept X, Sophos MDR, Sophos XDR, and Sophos Phish Threat.
The new cybersecurity division launches in October 2025 under the ‘Securing Your Connectivity’ promotion, providing competitive pricing, flexible bundles, and local support to help South African businesses protect against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
